What was the location? Was it work from home?

Yes, it was work from home, and HouseItt is located in New Delhi.

How did you come to know about the internship?

I came to know about the internship from LinkedIn.

What were your responsibilities as an intern?

As an intern, my first responsibility was to manage a team of 25 associates who were allocated to me by the firm itself. To coordinate, I created a WhatsApp group regarding the same where I used to put important messages, daily tasks, communicate with them and ask them if they are facing any problem.

Apart from this, I also used to conduct interactive sessions, to know them more and create a sense of belonging. One of my duties was creating hype about “The Housing Festival” which was an initiative taken out by the firm.

The hype was to be created on various social media platforms as well as offline mode (if possible) for which I used to put daily stories on my Instagram and WhatsApp handle as well as used LinkedIn to promote the same.

The same task was to be done by my associates, to promote HouseItt across India, create awareness about the housing festival and generate leads for the same. Several big personalities also came forward to boost the spirit of the associates and make them learn about communication, sales, networking and entrepreneurial skills. It was a great experience for me.

How much time did you contribute daily?

We used to have a daily one-hour session in the evening which was conducted by different individuals on different topics. The speakers could be the founder and his teammates or some renowned personality who gave us a lot of knowledge and also answered our queries.

Apart from my daily job, I also used to forward important messages in my associate group. So regularly, it took 2-3 hours maximum.

Share your proudest achievements and how were you able to realise them.

My proudest achievement was when I was chosen as a ‘Business Development Manager’ by my executive. I was very excited to see how my associates would be working and how I would manage them.

After the completion of the internship, I got my completion certificate and the LOR within 4 days and seeing my name written there gave me immense satisfaction and happiness. I also felt proud of completing my first internship as a Business Manager.

What are the top learnings, skills and values that you acquired here?

I learned a lot of things during this one-month internship. Firstly, I learnt how to communicate with people effectively so that they feel comfortable with you and share their problems.  HouseItt is a very student-friendly platform where we created a comfortable environment with our associates so that they work without any fear and put their opinions in front.

Conducting interactive sessions with them, making them speak and giving suggestions helped me to build confidence among myself. These things were taught to us by our executives and we applied the same with our teammates. I also learnt about networking and sales techniques. Here I came to know how to talk to people, connect with them and make them purchase my product/service.

Do you feel this experience is a stepping stone towards success in life? Illustrate how the experience gained will help you going forward in your career.

Yes, this is a stepping stone for me because the confidence and life-related skills I learnt in HouseItt will enable me to grab better opportunities in future. I have gained experience and I have learnt from my mistakes during this internship. This had and will surely help me to be a better version of myself.

Handling a team of 25 associates made me answer their queries and I developed a mindset of answering their queries by stepping into their shoes and according to their thinking. I always tried to give my best and the appreciation they gave me, in the end, gave me immense happiness.

What is your advice to those, who are aspiring for the same or a similar internship?

Grabbing this opportunity is no less than a milestone because the best part of HouseItt is that it is a student startup and wholly run by students. Every individual here is given a chance to contribute towards the success of the organisation and you always feel involved and engaged with all the leaders there.

I would like to tell all of you that you must not miss any chance you get to showcase your ability, skills and talent because you never know which road leads to what destination.

So just grab any opportunity you get, give your best and rock the world!

How can we (Friends, Family, YI Fraternity) encourage young students such as yourself to involve themselves in different opportunity

You can do this by sharing your experiences, showing your certificates and your learnings. This will surely motivate and excite them to look around for such opportunities.
